EYFS - Robins class

Our Early Years provision is a warm, joyful and nurturing place where children can grow, explore and develop a real love of learning.

At Cavendish, we want every child’s first experience of school to be happy, exciting and full of possibility. Our ethos of “We Learn. We Love. We Belong.” sits at the heart of our Early Years provision, ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and truly part of our school family from the very beginning.

Our Reception children learn within Robins Class alongside Years 1 and 2, giving them the opportunity to build strong relationships, learn from one another and become confident members of our small school community. Our Early Years curriculum remains carefully planned around the EYFS framework, with learning shaped by children’s interests, needs and next steps.

Children learn through a balance of purposeful play, exploration, adult-led teaching and carefully planned continuous provision. They are encouraged to be curious, creative and independent, developing their communication, early reading, writing and mathematical understanding alongside their physical, social and emotional development.

Learning extends well beyond the classroom. Children make regular use of our school grounds and outdoor environment, with opportunities to investigate, create, problem-solve and learn about the world around them.

Led by Mrs Pryce-Hall, with the support of a full-time additional adult, our Early Years provision places strong relationships at its heart. We take time to get to know every child as an individual and work closely with families to help children feel secure, confident and ready to flourish.

We know that starting school is a significant milestone for children and their families. Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for prospective and new families to visit the school, meet the team and become familiar with the environment, helping to make the transition into Reception as positive and reassuring as possible.
